National leader and pro-choice hero Sarah Weddington, National Women's Political Caucus President Lulu Flores, former SafePlace Director Kelly White, co-founder of HRC Human Rights Commission Bettie Naylor, political activist and community leader Martha Cotera, former State Representative Ann Kitchen, former Austin City Councilmember Brigid Shea and Ginny Agnew all recently endorsed my campaign for Travis County Democratic Party Chair. Thanks!
In other, much less exciting news, I turned 35 over the weekend.

Eugene Sepulveda, while sitting at Las Manitas restaurant this morning, endorsed my campaign for County Chair. Eugene, Executive Director of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas,
http://www.givetoaustin.org/ab... is a respected member Austin's active community--he's a leader in Austin high tech, philanthropic, Democratic, progressive, and many other areas. I look forward to working with Eugene to improve the fund-raising and voter turnout capabilities of the Travis County Democratic Party.

Former Austin Mayor and City Councilmember Gus Garcia today endorsed my campaign for Travis County Democratic Party Chair. Thanks Mayor!
As you know, Mayor Garcia became the first elected Hispanic Mayor of Austin in 2001, succeeding Senator Kirk Watson as Mayor. Mayor Garcia has done so much for Austin. I found an old article in the Austin Chronicle by Daryl Slusher that provides an in-depth history of his pre-Mayor life here: http://www.austinchr...
Also of note, the dedication of Gus Garcia Middle School will be Sunday November 18th, with tours at 1pm and a ceremony at 2pm. 7414 Johnny Morris Rd.

My good friend and former coworker at the 21st Century Democrats, Representative Eddie Rodriguez, has endorsed my campaign for Chair! Representative Rodriguez joins State Reps Dawnna Dukes, Pete Gallego, Mark Strama and Donna Howard as supporters--together we will raise more money than ever before, increase turnout (especially in minority precincts) and reach out to new voters in new and creative ways in Travis County.
You, too, can join my campaign by entering your name and email address on the left side of this blog (it's free!).
Thanks Eddie!

The Austin Chronicle's Stephen Moser's 50th birthday party was this Saturday, where I ran into Mayor Will Wynn, Julia Smith, Ben Serrato, Jimmy Stewart of www.do512.com and a guy known as the human beatbox. Here's the excellent coverage by Michael Barnes of the Statesman:

And here's the best correction ever, thanks Michael! http://www.austin360...
Logo Recycling--The Statesman has a sense of humor! While I was blockwalking this weekend in South Austin a guy actually said to me "Hey, you are the guy who is using the same logo again." Then he signed up as a supporter. Here's the blurb:

Eileen "Best of Austin" Smith dug deep for this story:

As most politicians in Texas know, Evan Smith is like the Rupert Murdoch of Texas media, except he isn't a right winger and doesn't actually own any media outlets. So I guess he is more like the Oprah Winfrey/George Stephanopoulos of Texas, with some young Dan Rather mixed in. Anyhow, I just got a message from him that our breakfast at Las Manitas will be at 8:10am, not 8:00am today. That gives me a few minutes to welcome you to the KeepTravisBlueBlog (or should it be the "BrownBlog"?).
So, welcome. If you are a candidate, you know that this Wednesday is a big day for the local political circuit. The Central Austin Democrats, the Southwest Austin Democrats, the University Democrats, the Black Women's Political Caucus and a fundraiser for Andy Hathcock are all on the plate tonight. So I'll pack up my pushcards, sign-in sheets and running shoes, and head out the door...
